Spacedough, spaghetti and straws!

This started out as a simple bit of playdough play, but if i tell the boys we're doing playdough Bud turns his nose up at it and tells me it's boring! So, instead I coloured it black, added glitter and renamed it Space dough after being inspired by this post at The Imagination Tree.

I made this playdough with 2 cups plain flour, 2 cups water, 1 cup salt, 2 tablespoons vegetable oil, 1 1/2 tablespoons cream of tartar, good dose of black food colouring and glitter - stick it in a pan, put it on a low heat and stir until it comes together.

So armed with a few chopped up straws the boys had a great time, in fact this was probably the most fun we've had with playdough for ages.

But, after a while they'd stuck in as many straws as they could, but clearly wanted to play for longer so I dashed off to our craft box for googly eyes and pipe cleaners only to discover I couldn't get them as they were behind a locked door that Hubby had the key to - doh! So, with no crafty stuff I raided the kitchen cupboards instead and got out some dried penne pasta and spaghetti which were a HUGE HIT! Check out this creation.......

But, Champ combined spaghetti AND straws into this awesome piece of art! Also took quite a bit of skill as, you can't really tell, but some of the spaghetti is threaded into the straws.

Lots of fun, plus the brilliant thing about playdough is if you keep it airtight it lasts for ages so we can use it all over again another day!
